Tsuginote

2025 / Exhibition Space / Takaoka, Toyama, Japan

Color & Memory /

This is an exhibition space design for "Tsugino-te," a craft event in Takaoka. Using orange, the color of "fire" that symbolizes Takaoka, a town of metal casting, as the theme, the parking lot was temporarily transformed into a space of flames and light. Orange is seen as both the fire that melts metal and a symbol of "succession," the passing of skills to the next hand. Using temporary materials such as scaffolding and translucent film, the orange color, often seen at construction sites, appears like a fleeting celebration, then disappears. This "ephemerality of the place" is superimposed on the memory of fire in Takaoka and the heat of the place in the design.
