Palm Aloft 掌立
This object was created for the Yamayado of the Johana Hikiyama Festival. Within this festival, where people welcome the deity and pray for the prosperity of the town, good fortune, and protection from misfortune, this form was conceived to stand beside the sacred object as a quiet expression of human prayer toward the divine. Rising from a low posture that touches the earth, and joining its palms as if reaching toward the heavens, it symbolizes the thoughts of people who, while holding uncertainty within themselves, still seek to remain strong.
