HAJIME YOSHIDA ARCHITECTURE crosses scales and disciplines, designing from small crafted objects to architecture and land art.
Working abroad taught me to recognize the beauty and symbolism that transcend borders, and, by becoming aware of these boundaries, I also rediscovered a deep pride in being Japanese.
In 2019, I returned to my roots in Toyama, facing the rich natural landscapes and historical culture where I was born and raised. Through this encounter, I became acutely aware that our everyday lives are woven into the broader history of humanity and the life of the Earth itself.
“Listening to the voice of nature and the voice of people, I seek to raise spirituality and symbolism within a place.”
With this statement held close to my heart, I approach every act of design.
My activities are broadly guided by five fundamental philosophies.
HAJIME YOSHIDA ARCHITECTURE は、小さな工芸のプロダクトデザインから建築、ランドアートまで、スケールと分野を横断してデザインを行っています。
海外で働いた経験は、様々なボーダーを越えて共通に感じる美しさや象徴性を学ぶとともに、その境界を自覚することで、日本人としての誇りにもあらためて気づかせてくれました。
さらに2019年、地元・富山に拠点を移し、自分が生まれ育った豊かな自然と歴史ある文化と向き合う中で、私たちの日々の営みが、遥かな歴史と地球の営みに連なるものであることを強く自覚しました。

Pray & Silence | 沈黙と祈り
Creating spatial openness brings forth beauty and spirituality. To be silent is to observe a place with all five senses—and to pray. Our ancestors found symbols and meaning in the natural world. In today’s noisy and overloaded society, I believe we must once again embrace silence as a way to face the Earth with renewed attention.
空間に余白を生み出すことは、美しさと精神性をもたらします。沈黙することは、五感で場所を見つめ、祈ることでもあります。
先人たちは、自然の中に象徴や意味を見いだしました。私たちもまた、現代の喧騒の中に沈黙を宿し、地球と向き合う力を取り戻したいと願っています。

Harmony with Nature | 自然との共生
Our lives and daily activities exist within the larger cycle of the Earth.Eating, making, using—everything we touch is part of nature’s life.I seek not only to feel nature, but to quietly embody a spirit of coexistence within the spaces I create.
私たちの営みや生活も、地球の大きな循環の中にあります。食べるもの、使う素材、すべてが自然の一部です。自然をただ感じるだけでなく、人と共に在る精神を、空間にそっと宿します。

Composition & Body | 構成と身体
My work begins by drawing lines within the environment. It is a way of introducing geometry into human life, to give order to movement and space. But these lines are not mere constraints—they enrich our lives, create symbolic places, and foster new relationships with nature. I aim to infuse the act of drawing lines with deeper meaning and spirituality.
私の仕事は、環境のなかに線を引くことから始まります。それは人の営みのために幾何学を持ち込み、行動や環境に秩序を与える試みです。けれどその線は、単なる制約ではなく、豊かさをもたらし、象徴的な場を生み、自然との新たな関係を育むものでもあります。線を引くという行為に、より深い精神性を込めたいと考えています。

Color & Memory | 色彩と記憶
Colors especiallyMaterial symbolize the memories of cultures, communities, campany and places. Working with color is not only about visual effect, but about drawing out unseen histories and shared spirit— giving strong meaning to a space through sensorial resonance. Through color, I seek to express the accumulated time and emotion embedded in each place.
色、とりわけマテリアルは、文化や企業、土地の記憶を象徴するものです。色を扱うことは、人の感覚に働きかけるだけでなく、目に見えない歴史や精神をすくい上げ、場に強い意味を与える行為でもあります。私は色彩を通して、その場所に積み重ねられた時間や思いを表現したいと考えています。

Abstract Landscape | 抽象的風景
Inspired by natural landscapes, I abstract their forms and colors into new expressions. Just as our ancestors painted landscapes onto folding screens and sliding doors, I create small landscapes within products, textiles, and windowless rooms—fragments of nature that quietly inhabit space.
自然の風景にインスピレーションを受け、かたちや色を抽象化して表現します。かつて先人たちが屏風や襖絵に風景を描いたように、プロダクトやテキスタイル、窓のない部屋にも、小さな風景を宿したいと考えています。
